Free Seminar on Capitalism and The Bible
Sponsored by the Minnesota Family Council
Hosted by Bethlehem College and Seminary
"Money, Greed, and God"Is capitalism consistent or in conflict with a biblical worldview?"
Dr. Jay Richards will address such questions as:
- Can capitalism help create a just society?
- Does the government have a role to play in our economy and if so what is it?
- Does capitalism promote greed and unfair competition?
- Does capitalism mean the rich become richer and the poor poorer? Has Christianity ever embraced capitalism?
- Doesn’t capitalism lead to a consumerist culture?
- Can a person who follows Jesus’ call to love others be a supporter of capitalism?
- Are our current economic and financial problems caused by flaws inherent in our free market system?
Dr. Richards will show how capitalism is fully consistent with Jesus’ teachings and the Christian tradition. He will expose a number of myths and misconceptions surrounding capitalism and the free market system.
He will argue in fact that capitalism is the best economic system for responding to the biblical mandate to alleviate poverty and protect the environment.
